SSREE Foundation

SSREE FOUNDATION (SSREE: Social Support- Rehabilitation, Education, & Empowerment) is a non- profitable charitable trust registered under the Indian Trust Act with registration No:397/09. We endeavour to provide holistic support to the poor, the down trodden and the mentally ill. In pursuance of the above goals our activities include providing health care facilities, rehabilitation, financial aid to support the education of the wards of this segment of people.

Our Core Values

SSREE works with the poor and marginalized irrespective of caste creed or religion. The trust is formed with the objective of empowering the voiceless people to become self- sufficient and utilizing their resources without damaging our earth. The trust firmly belief to serve the poor, marginalized, unorganized sections of society through promoting and strengthening their community based organizations in order to enhance the creative potentials of the individuals and the groups for sustaining the development and empowerment process. Our trust strongly belief that development can’t be bring from outside but the people themselves bring it through collective bargaining, linkages and collaboration. To achieve the objectives of SSREE, we enhance the knowledge and awareness level of the target population in systematic strategic and diplomatic methods involving all the stakeholders.

MAJOR INTERVENTIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

During this period, the SSREE concentrated mainly on some important programmes which are the dire need of the target population. The focused interventions helped to achieve the objectives envisaged by the trust more effectively and beneficial. Major interventions are :-

1. PUNARJANI

PUNARJANI IS A MISSION TO GIVE FREE DIALYSIS AND FREE KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION SUPPORT.

As part of this Punarjani we do a project named HKL-KERALA –  free dialysis to downtrodden category patients with the support of Nims Medicity,Neyyattinkara as hospital partner. Now we are going to complete the 14th year of this project and more than 50000 free dialysis completion under this project. .

HKL-KERALA raises its fund towards this purpose by way of charity`boxes contributions and donations from magnanimous donors like State Bank of Travancore, Surya Stage Show etc- the society at large and other charity supporting institutions. As a part of this fund mobilizing, we are trying to coordinate all category people in the society.

2. SSREEANNAPOORNNA

Monthly Food and Medicine support to the families where there have no earning members within the family and age group above 60s.Bedridden patients, Old age people etc included in this catagory. And also give treatment support to needed patients in this poor section.

Under this mission we selected 3 Panchayaths in Thiruvananthapuram district and now we support 75 families.Every month we give Rice / Provision/ Vegetables and Medicines for them. 

As part of Annapoornna we are doing Skill developement training Programmes and Medical / Health & Hygiene awareness camps etc for the uplipment of poors

3. MEDICINE SUPPORT

With the support of Pharma Companies and Charity Organizations we distribute medicines for the patients under HKL Kerala and the beneficiaries of Annapoornna and for the patients who attend our monthly medical camps in Tribal areas.

4. SSREE BHAVAN

Under this project We have Completed 2 houses for two very deserving families and made 10 toilets and 5 wells for needy familes.

Under this SSREE BHAVAN we have another mission for an old age home for homeless elders and a shelter for post mentally ill females.

Objective is to rehabilitate female patients and elders who recovered from mental illness but thrown away from their own families. Initially we plan to accommodate 20 such females. For starting this mission we have to make a rehabilitation home with a wast area and fresh air. 

5. SSREE SCHOOLS

 In Education sector we find out sponsors for bright and deserving students in school as well as for Higher Education for last 14 yrs.

Under this project we are planning to give Higher Education  support to  very bright students in Tribal areas by  conducting free classes, Crash Courses etc.

We regularly give lunch to financially weak government schools ,Aided Schools and unaided schools which having no schemes of free lunch to poor students.

In School opening times each year we give Text Books / Note Books/ Uniforms/ School Bags/Geometry Boxes / Umbrellas etc to financially weak students in government schools Aided Schools and unaided schools.

6. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Regarding Women Empowerment category we do awareness programmes & skill development training programmes.We regularly do awareness campaigns for NREGS a central government programme for the uplipment of women in rural and sub rural areas.

This programme focus to educate & improve the standards of living of the poor women through the skill development programmes of NREGS scheme. We conduct this programme in each Panchayats and give training to becoming a skilled labourer.

 We are focusing these awareness campaigns and classes for how to improve self and skill developments. For that we give training for entrepreneurship with the support of like minded scholars.

7. TRIBAL DEVELOPEMENT PROGRAMME

Tribals ( Adivasies) are the most people living in abject poverty, poor shelters, unemployed and exploited people in our area of operation. This wandering people in search of job and collection of forest resources never live in a place continuously for a long period. The outer world is not aware of the difficulties or problems faced by these poor people. People living in the interior forest are living like the animals. Poor transportation facilities and lack of safe roads are hindrance for the development of the workers to reach their halmlets. Poverty, Mal nutrition, diseases, poor shelters, safe drinking water during summer etc are the main problems faced by the people. During the reporting period trust distributed food items, clothes and medicines and conducted regular medical camps in the areas of Sasthavattom and idinjar settlements in collaboration with Nims Medicity, Trivandrum and government hospitals in near by areas.In the medical camps, the team distributed medicines and health nutrients for the children and mothers.

We have celebrated this year’s Onam in a grand scale in Eeyakodu tribal settlement, Idinjar in order to assemble all the tribals living in different settlement colonies.

Under SSREE SCHOOLS project we are Planning to give Higher Education support to very bright students in this areas by conducting free classes, Crash Courses and giving sponsorship for selected ones to attend regular coaching classes in leading coaching centers. As a part of Women Empowerment we are giving awareness campaigns and training for how to improve self and skill developments. 

8. SUPPORT PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED ONES

1.Mr. Radhakrishnan was an autodriver who met an accident and lost .one of his legs. We suppprt him through give an artificial leg and help to buy an Autoriksha.. Now he earn his bread by using this vehicle.

2.Ms.Mini – born by a physically challenged kid. Now she is 35 yrs.She can move only through wheelchair.We had given hier an Eelectronic Wheel Chair. and support her to earn her bread through a small enterprenership by marketing her Paper Pencils and Umbrellas which made by her.

3.Mr. Chandran who met an accident and unable to move without support of others, We donated a wheelchair to him

9. ONAKKODI

ONAKKODI to SSREE ANNA POORNNA BENEFICIARIES& PALIATIVE CARE PATIENTS UNDER BPL CATEGORY

10.MEDICAL CAMPS

We regularly conduct health camps in rural / sub rual and tribal areas with the support of near by hospitals and  leading charity minded hospitals. We give free medicines  and awareness programmes regarding  to the importance of  health and social hygene. Twice in 6 months we give medical camps to our Annapoornna beneficiaries. and give free medicines to the needy ones every month. For Younger generation we give Drug abuse awareness programmes and skill development training sections.
